[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_01]: What's up guys, welcome back to the Force Unscripted.
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Today we have another Force Fact for you coming from Wenchi's Hologron of Horrors, although
[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_01]: none of them have ever really been scary or horrible.
[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, today's Force Fact is did you know that the blaster sounds from the original
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: movies were not created using software, they were actually created by tapping metal
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: to electrical cables or very thick cable wire.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So whenever you take a piece of metal and smack it on a wire, it makes those like pew-pew
[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_01]: sounds.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: That's how they made those in the original movies.
[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_01]: They were not digital sounds at all.
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Practical effects.
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Woo!
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Practical.
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You too can make blaster sounds from Star Wars by smacking a cable with something
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_01]: metal.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Just make sure it's, you know, not a live wire.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Or don't if that's your thing.
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I just want to say that would probably be more fun.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Would be quite the shocking development.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't try this at home kids.
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_00]: No try it at home kids.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Take the toaster to the bathtub, the fork to the socket.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Do it.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_00]: It'll give you superpowers like static shock.
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I did that once.
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you really?
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: With a fork?
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I broke a light switch and we had a replacement one sitting around and I was
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: really young and I didn't want my parents to know that I broke the light switch
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: so I tried to change it out myself but I didn't, you know, flip the breaker.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So I got a little less recuted.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: That's probably the moment you started fucking growing like a madman.
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: That it activated your cells.
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know man, I didn't start growing for a few years after that.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't actually remember when I broke that.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: The timeline is unimportant.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That was the canon event.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah, I got shocked and then now I'm taller than Nikita.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And guess who was shocked when he found out that the sudden growth spirit had
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: happened?
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Is it Nikita?
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: It's Nikita.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You guessed right.
[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_00]: You get a cookie.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I like cookies.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: But no, to follow back up on your force fact, like I watched a video of them
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: making some of the effects and I was so shocked at like how simple it was.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like there was one sound.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I forget which sound effect it was but it was like made by like stretching
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: out a slinky and then just fucking pushing it and letting it wave back
[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and forth.
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, God damn.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: The lightsaber sounds were made by like holding something up next to a TV
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: tube.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, the cathode tubes.
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_00]: That shit's crazy.
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: So look at how far we've come though.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we were broke boys and now we're rich CGI infested boys.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: They probably still use the smacks to make those sounds though.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You think so?
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, those sound design people, they totally just sit around like how do
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: we make a cool sound and then they have like there's a room of like random
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: bits and bobbles and then just smack them together and stuff.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen videos on like sound design.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They literally just have like a room of like bullshit that they just beat
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: around until they find a cool sound.
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's random but I totally wish that there's a monkey in this room.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know if you put a monkey in a room with like a typewriter and give
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: them infinite amount of time, eventually they'll type all of Shakespeare's
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: son.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I feel like if you put a monkey in a room with a bunch of random
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: objects that they can fucking bang together and throw against the wall
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: eventually you'll make every sound the universe has ever had.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Eventually yeah, I mean with infinite time, infinite possibilities.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Alright, thanks for tuning into this week's Force Fact.
[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure to like, subscribe, hit that bell, follow us on all the socials.
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Force Unscripted at Twitter, formerly known as X and a website that
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: should exist sometime eventually when I have time eventually.
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: These are getting more depressing as you go every time.
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like yeah, website coming soon.
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like yeah, a website eventually when I fucking feel like you bitches.
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, after the trip maybe.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Alright, may the force be with you everyone.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for watching.
