00:00:00 --> 00:00:02 You ready to go? Yeah, good. All right. I got
00:00:02 --> 00:00:05 to take a sip of big water first. Forgive me.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:07 I'm not home. So I don't have my own little like
00:00:07 --> 00:00:09 thermos. So he has this thing for me when I come
00:00:09 --> 00:00:12 over and it's called big water. And I just, you
00:00:12 --> 00:00:14 know, hydrate or dehydrate everyone. I'm a slut.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:19 Oh, I know. I know. All right. Let's go. Let's
00:00:19 --> 00:00:23 go. Okay. I'm from, um, what's, what's the name?
00:00:24 --> 00:00:27 Sharpay. Sharpay. High school musical. Oh, you
00:00:27 --> 00:00:30 get to be my, uh. What was his... What was the
00:00:30 --> 00:00:32 name? It was played by Lucas Graybiel. That was
00:00:32 --> 00:00:34 the name, right? No. I don't know. Actors and
00:00:34 --> 00:00:36 actresses. I don't... What was his character's
00:00:36 --> 00:00:38 name in High School Musical? Which one? The gay
00:00:38 --> 00:00:42 dude. Oh. Her brother. Her brother? Uh... Oh,
00:00:42 --> 00:00:45 Brick3PO, we need a... We need a High School
00:00:45 --> 00:00:49 Musical fact check. Please? Ryan! That's who
00:00:49 --> 00:00:53 it is. Thank you, Brick3PO, doing your job well.
00:00:54 --> 00:00:56 I'm not going to be able to start this episode
00:00:56 --> 00:01:24 now. Everyone, this is The Force Unscripted.
00:01:24 --> 00:01:27 We are going to be starting our part two for
00:01:27 --> 00:01:31 the Obi -Wan Kenobi season finale. So, Hunter,
00:01:31 --> 00:01:34 are you ready? I am ready. All right, so... We're
00:01:34 --> 00:01:36 starting off, I know we kind of jumped around
00:01:36 --> 00:01:38 last episode back and forth between periods of
00:01:38 --> 00:01:39 Obi -Wan. That's going to happen this episode
00:01:39 --> 00:01:43 too. But the main focus of today's episode is
00:01:43 --> 00:01:47 going to be Obi -Wan after accepting Anakin as
00:01:47 --> 00:01:50 his Padawan up until the events of Order 66.
00:01:50 --> 00:01:54 I don't think we'll dive past much when it comes
00:01:54 --> 00:01:56 to, like, we'll probably stop around Mustafar.
00:01:56 --> 00:01:59 That sounds like a good stopping point. you know
00:01:59 --> 00:02:02 we'll just see how how and where the show takes
00:02:02 --> 00:02:07 us so starting off one thing that I loved about
00:02:07 --> 00:02:12 Legends was how much detail you get into Obi
00:02:12 --> 00:02:15 -Wan and Anakin's like missions during the Clone
00:02:15 --> 00:02:16 Wars and stuff and the stuff that they do when
00:02:16 --> 00:02:20 Anakin is still you know like a very young padawan
00:02:20 --> 00:02:22 so one of my one of my favorite moments and this
00:02:22 --> 00:02:25 is one of the reasons why i'm sore that disney
00:02:25 --> 00:02:28 canon kind of changed things and what it was
00:02:28 --> 00:02:32 was that anakin and barris have like an interaction
00:02:32 --> 00:02:35 with each other while barris is on a mission
00:02:35 --> 00:02:38 with luminara and anakin is on a mission with
00:02:38 --> 00:02:41 obi -wan and they're on this planet that you
00:02:41 --> 00:02:45 learn is like the focal point of Palpatine's
00:02:45 --> 00:02:49 grand scheme. So like it is, so basically the
00:02:49 --> 00:02:51 long story short is that this planet is in such
00:02:51 --> 00:02:54 a weird area of space where it's leaning more
00:02:54 --> 00:02:56 towards separatist values, but it's still a part
00:02:56 --> 00:02:59 of the Republic. And it is, Palpatine has discovered
00:02:59 --> 00:03:03 that it is in such a unique niche position that
00:03:03 --> 00:03:06 turmoil there will set off a cascade of events
00:03:06 --> 00:03:09 that will give the separatist movement its shove
00:03:09 --> 00:03:12 to get started. And Anakin, of course is somehow
00:03:12 --> 00:03:15 drawn to like the heart of palpatine's plan which
00:03:15 --> 00:03:17 is so funny because that that happens a lot in
00:03:17 --> 00:03:20 um legends where anakin is just happen to be
00:03:20 --> 00:03:23 brought into Palpatine's plot with outbound flight.
00:03:23 --> 00:03:25 Anakin just happens to show up in that. It's
00:03:25 --> 00:03:29 funny because he is at this focal point. And
00:03:29 --> 00:03:32 though Palpatine is successful in the end, that
00:03:32 --> 00:03:35 planet does turn separatist and they fail their
00:03:35 --> 00:03:38 mission, but they go through this stuff and Anakin
00:03:38 --> 00:03:41 and Obi -Wan have their strifes and then Anakin
00:03:41 --> 00:03:44 and... and Barriss go off and do their, like,
00:03:44 --> 00:03:46 reconnaissance for the mission. And Obi -Wan
00:03:46 --> 00:03:49 and Luminara talk. And it's so funny because
00:03:49 --> 00:03:52 you get to see, like, Luminara, who's had plenty
00:03:52 --> 00:03:55 of Padawans, right? And then talking to Obi -Wan,
00:03:55 --> 00:03:57 he's just like, he's like this new dad. And he's
00:03:57 --> 00:03:59 like, is it always like this? And Luminara's
00:03:59 --> 00:04:02 just like, yeah. You got to kind of work them
00:04:02 --> 00:04:05 a little bit to get them to do what's right and
00:04:05 --> 00:04:09 what a proper Jedi should. Yeah, a lot of them
00:04:09 --> 00:04:11 are like this. But yours is a special type of
00:04:11 --> 00:04:15 crazy. That's chosen one crazy. He got that,
00:04:15 --> 00:04:20 I don't know what in him. That dog? That dog.
00:04:20 --> 00:04:24 He got that dog in him. That's, I think, I forget
00:04:24 --> 00:04:26 what episode. When I was talking about Zanoma
00:04:26 --> 00:04:29 Seacott, the living planet. That's another story
00:04:29 --> 00:04:31 that I really like because that is the first
00:04:31 --> 00:04:34 instance that we know of, at least in Legends
00:04:34 --> 00:04:37 timeline. I'm not sure how Disney changed their
00:04:37 --> 00:04:40 relationship. But in Legends timeline, Anakin,
00:04:40 --> 00:04:43 as we know, gets like a bunch of seeds on him
00:04:43 --> 00:04:44 because that means his ship's going to, because
00:04:44 --> 00:04:47 he's so, he's the chosen one. The fourth ship
00:04:47 --> 00:04:49 that he would make is going to be just inherently
00:04:49 --> 00:04:52 badass, right? But... There's like a fight because
00:04:52 --> 00:04:54 the invaders, which we find out later, the Yuuzhan
00:04:54 --> 00:04:57 Vong come and Anakin gets angry. And this is
00:04:57 --> 00:04:59 the first time that Obi -Wan sees Anakin kind
00:04:59 --> 00:05:02 of change in front of him. Like he gets angry
00:05:02 --> 00:05:04 and he's like, he's powerful. Even as a kid,
00:05:04 --> 00:05:10 he's powerful. And it sort of changes how, like,
00:05:10 --> 00:05:12 he's like, yes, he's the chosen one, but he's
00:05:12 --> 00:05:14 also capable of like great destruction. It's
00:05:14 --> 00:05:15 like a, it's like a Vader flash. Like he sees
00:05:15 --> 00:05:19 it. I just think that that is so important because
00:05:19 --> 00:05:21 there are so many times, that's why I say, I
00:05:21 --> 00:05:23 think, I think Obi -Wan's love for Anakin truly
00:05:23 --> 00:05:27 was his downfall because he lets him slide with
00:05:27 --> 00:05:31 so much that anyone else should have just immediately
00:05:31 --> 00:05:33 reported to the council. See, the thing is like,
00:05:33 --> 00:05:36 right. Most of the people who take like Padawans,
00:05:36 --> 00:05:38 they're like a little older, like Jedi Knight,
00:05:38 --> 00:05:41 but like. obi -wan was still a padawan when he
00:05:41 --> 00:05:44 took on anakin as his padawan like the day he
00:05:44 --> 00:05:47 became a knight he also got a padawan and like
00:05:47 --> 00:05:49 he was still in that he was like 19 like he was
00:05:49 --> 00:05:51 in that like older brother phase like you know
00:05:51 --> 00:05:54 you let your your sibling do what they want come
00:05:54 --> 00:05:56 over to your place trash it have a party that
00:05:56 --> 00:05:58 kind of thing and you're like no mom and dad
00:05:58 --> 00:06:01 they were you know okay so question for you from
00:06:01 --> 00:06:04 that then Do you think that is because of who
00:06:04 --> 00:06:06 Obi -Wan is as a person? The fact that he is
00:06:06 --> 00:06:09 a teenager in that state? Some combination of
00:06:09 --> 00:06:12 both? Or because of Qui -Gon? Or some combination
00:06:12 --> 00:06:14 of all of those? I don't think Qui -Gon really
00:06:14 --> 00:06:16 factors into it. I think it's just like that
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 developmental stage of like being a person. Like
00:06:19 --> 00:06:22 you're in that like rebellious, I'm just now
00:06:22 --> 00:06:23 getting on my own. I've just become a knight.
00:06:23 --> 00:06:26 Like I'm kind of the sh**. And then, like, now
00:06:26 --> 00:06:27 you have to train this kid, and you're like,
00:06:28 --> 00:06:30 okay, I can either be a hard -ass and, like,
00:06:30 --> 00:06:32 make him hate me, or I can be the cool older
00:06:32 --> 00:06:33 brother and, like, let him chill and do what
00:06:33 --> 00:06:35 he wants. So do you think he was trying to imitate
00:06:35 --> 00:06:38 Qui -Gon? No, I don't think, like, yes, Qui -Gon
00:06:38 --> 00:06:40 had a big influence on him, but I don't think
00:06:40 --> 00:06:42 Qui -Gon, at this point, I don't think Qui -Gon
00:06:42 --> 00:06:44 is really factoring into this. Are you sure?
00:06:45 --> 00:06:47 Like, okay. How can you say that when this is
00:06:47 --> 00:06:50 his master's dying wish? Right, okay, but we
00:06:50 --> 00:06:53 talked about last episode how, like, obi -wan
00:06:53 --> 00:06:56 after his master died really like went on to
00:06:56 --> 00:06:58 the like straight and narrow as his like views
00:06:58 --> 00:07:01 as a jedi like he really followed the the dogma
00:07:01 --> 00:07:04 basically right but then he was lenient with
00:07:04 --> 00:07:06 anakin because he was like wants to be that chill
00:07:06 --> 00:07:08 older brother he doesn't want anakin to go to
00:07:08 --> 00:07:11 the dark side he's afraid of that right he knows
00:07:11 --> 00:07:13 he has the power and he's training him late so
00:07:13 --> 00:07:16 he's like if I'm the cool dude and like make
00:07:16 --> 00:07:18 everything like the the Jedi seem like cool let
00:07:18 --> 00:07:20 him like do his thing not really like get on
00:07:20 --> 00:07:23 him maybe that'll keep him from going to the
00:07:23 --> 00:07:25 dark side instead of being like forced to be
00:07:25 --> 00:07:27 like this is what you have to do this is who
00:07:27 --> 00:07:29 you have to be whatnot like maybe Obi -Wan thought
00:07:29 --> 00:07:32 if he let Anakin kind of bend the rules a little
00:07:32 --> 00:07:34 bit he wouldn't go lean more towards the dark
00:07:34 --> 00:07:36 side because typically they train children from
00:07:36 --> 00:07:38 like age six or whatever like really young where
00:07:38 --> 00:07:41 you can impress on them you have to follow this.
00:07:41 --> 00:07:43 Like you have to be this kind of person or whatnot.
00:07:43 --> 00:07:45 And that'll stick with them. But Anakin's older.
00:07:45 --> 00:07:48 So he already has his like rebellious, you know,
00:07:48 --> 00:07:50 stage going. Right. So if you then take that
00:07:50 --> 00:07:52 kid and you say, no, you can't do any of the
00:07:52 --> 00:07:54 things that you want to do. You have to be like
00:07:54 --> 00:07:57 this, this perfect child, a pluses all the time.
00:07:57 --> 00:07:58 Right. You know what happens to, you know what
00:07:58 --> 00:08:01 happens, right? Like, yeah. So Obi -Wan's like,
00:08:01 --> 00:08:04 okay, instead of like forcing him to be the person
00:08:04 --> 00:08:06 we want him to be. I'm gonna let him get to that
00:08:06 --> 00:08:08 point like on his own by being that like chill
00:08:08 --> 00:08:10 older brother that he can come to and like get
00:08:10 --> 00:08:13 guidance from that kind of thing. But it backfires
00:08:13 --> 00:08:15 because then Obi -Wan himself grows an attachment
00:08:15 --> 00:08:18 for Anakin because he's like, this is more like
00:08:18 --> 00:08:20 a family member rather than like somebody that
00:08:20 --> 00:08:22 I'm really trained. He didn't have that. experience
00:08:22 --> 00:08:24 again because he's literally like 19 when they
00:08:24 --> 00:08:26 start training their their family at that point
00:08:26 --> 00:08:30 and you know uh it's a it's a testament to that
00:08:30 --> 00:08:32 relationship that obi -wan had with anakin what
00:08:32 --> 00:08:35 you see in the clone wars especially in legends
00:08:35 --> 00:08:37 timeline we we see we see it in the in the clone
00:08:37 --> 00:08:41 war series but they became i like a he was like
00:08:41 --> 00:08:43 a dad brother he was like an uncle i don't even
00:08:43 --> 00:08:45 know how all of them all three at once and like
00:08:45 --> 00:08:47 and i i said i was in the last episode i said
00:08:47 --> 00:08:49 i was gonna talk about this like what i love
00:08:49 --> 00:08:52 about the novelization of episode three is the
00:08:52 --> 00:08:56 fact that Matt Stover does an amazing job at
00:08:56 --> 00:08:59 basically saying these are two beings that are
00:08:59 --> 00:09:01 linked like one. They are brothers in every aspect.
00:09:01 --> 00:09:04 One has the other, no matter what happens. And
00:09:04 --> 00:09:07 then he has like every, every... A couple of
00:09:07 --> 00:09:10 sections, he has like a beginning part of the
00:09:10 --> 00:09:13 chapter that's, if the chapter's about Obi -Wan,
00:09:13 --> 00:09:15 it's a little bit about Obi -Wan himself. If
00:09:15 --> 00:09:16 it's about Anakin, it's a little bit about Anakin
00:09:16 --> 00:09:18 himself. But every now and then he has one about
00:09:18 --> 00:09:21 their relationship. And you see, he opens the
00:09:21 --> 00:09:24 book about talking about how this is one person,
00:09:24 --> 00:09:26 just two bodies, like all that kind of stuff.
00:09:26 --> 00:09:28 And then at the end, you just see how it all
00:09:28 --> 00:09:32 goes to ruin. And Matt Stover is, I love Matt
00:09:32 --> 00:09:35 Stover's... artistic style when it comes to Star
00:09:35 --> 00:09:37 Wars books because he's like, I call him the
00:09:37 --> 00:09:41 dude bro writer because he talks about all of
00:09:41 --> 00:09:44 those fight scenes, lightsaber combat that you
00:09:44 --> 00:09:46 want to see. That's why I love his book about
00:09:46 --> 00:09:48 the shadows of Mindor. That's why I love his
00:09:48 --> 00:09:50 addition to the New Jedi Order when he wrote
00:09:50 --> 00:09:53 the book about Jason. And that was fantastic.
00:09:53 --> 00:09:56 And then I love Shatterpoint, obviously. And
00:09:56 --> 00:09:59 so when I found out that he did the novelization
00:09:59 --> 00:10:01 of Revenge of the Three, or Revenge of the Three.
00:10:02 --> 00:10:06 Of episode three, Revenge of the Sith. And it's
00:10:06 --> 00:10:07 funny because I read those other three books
00:10:07 --> 00:10:11 before I read the novelist. Because when I was
00:10:11 --> 00:10:12 young, I used to be like, well, I don't really
00:10:12 --> 00:10:15 need to read the movies as books. But I'm so
00:10:15 --> 00:10:17 glad I did because finding out about him, finding
00:10:17 --> 00:10:20 out about that Anakin -Obi -Wan relationship
00:10:20 --> 00:10:23 is what spurred me to go back and read the stuff
00:10:23 --> 00:10:25 about them in The Clone Wars. Like there is one
00:10:25 --> 00:10:29 book. It's a two -book series. I think it's one
00:10:29 --> 00:10:32 of the Kirin's. I think it's Travis. It's called
00:10:32 --> 00:10:36 Star Wars, The Clone Wars, Gambit and Siege.
00:10:36 --> 00:10:39 And it's about Obi -Wan and Anakin going to this
00:10:39 --> 00:10:42 one planet and like sneaking into a compound,
00:10:42 --> 00:10:45 getting into like the intricacies of like local
00:10:45 --> 00:10:48 skirmishes and stuff with separatists, like droids
00:10:48 --> 00:10:49 and stuff. And then they end up going to like
00:10:49 --> 00:10:53 a camp and like they siege the camp and Obi -Wan
00:10:53 --> 00:10:56 is forced to learn how to like force heal people.
00:10:56 --> 00:10:59 because of stress and like they don't sleep for
00:10:59 --> 00:11:02 like four days like this is like the black op
00:11:02 --> 00:11:05 of like obi -wan and anakin and you're like man
00:11:05 --> 00:11:07 these homies kind of cool like this is the duo
00:11:07 --> 00:11:09 like that's like the first real book where i
00:11:09 --> 00:11:11 saw that and i just i love their relationship
00:11:11 --> 00:11:14 because it goes from one of like tutelage and
00:11:14 --> 00:11:17 then it slowly turns into like the like the rolling
00:11:17 --> 00:11:19 eyes like i don't know why you're doing this
00:11:19 --> 00:11:21 you know you you know better and then it goes
00:11:21 --> 00:11:24 to like yeah dude we do bros let's go kill some
00:11:24 --> 00:11:27 separatists like But yeah, there was one thing
00:11:27 --> 00:11:29 that I really loved about Legends. I know that
00:11:29 --> 00:11:31 there is one book that I'm excited to read about
00:11:31 --> 00:11:34 in Disney canon. It's called Brotherhood. And
00:11:34 --> 00:11:36 it's about, it's by, I think it's Mike Chin.
00:11:36 --> 00:11:37 That's going to be one of the ones that I kind
00:11:37 --> 00:11:39 of want to read in the beginning because it's
00:11:39 --> 00:11:41 about Obi -Wan and Anakin. I want to see if anything
00:11:41 --> 00:11:44 changes because the thing about the novelizations
00:11:44 --> 00:11:46 is that they're canon between both timelines.
00:11:46 --> 00:11:49 So like the movie novelization is good for Legends
00:11:49 --> 00:11:51 and it's good for canon. That makes sense because
00:11:51 --> 00:11:53 I mean, the movies are still the movies. It doesn't
00:11:53 --> 00:11:56 make sense to non -canon. yeah so I want to see
00:11:56 --> 00:12:00 if they change the dynamic beforehand because
00:12:00 --> 00:12:04 if you think about cinematics see Anakin in episode
00:12:04 --> 00:12:06 2 and then going to episode 3 if you just watch
00:12:06 --> 00:12:10 it you're like what the f*** happened yeah like
00:12:10 --> 00:12:13 okay the They're in the... Maybe this was still
00:12:13 --> 00:12:15 in 2. Maybe it was. But they're, like, in the
00:12:15 --> 00:12:17 elevator talking about, like, you know, that
00:12:17 --> 00:12:19 time on whatever doesn't count. I was like, show
00:12:19 --> 00:12:21 me that. Yeah, that was episode 3. Give me the
00:12:21 --> 00:12:24 flashback. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so you're just
00:12:24 --> 00:12:28 like, how did Anakin, like, what happened? Like,
00:12:28 --> 00:12:29 can you, like, give us... All of a sudden, he's
00:12:29 --> 00:12:32 a stud. Yeah, exactly. It's like, he skipped
00:12:32 --> 00:12:35 the awkward phase somewhat, I guess. But then
00:12:35 --> 00:12:38 you watch the Clone Wars and, like, Rebels and
00:12:38 --> 00:12:40 all this stuff, and you're just like... And you
00:12:40 --> 00:12:42 know, it's just like, it's great. I love it.
00:12:42 --> 00:12:46 One of the few books that I remember from, like,
00:12:46 --> 00:12:48 the Clone Wars era was the one where Yaddle dies.
00:12:49 --> 00:12:51 I might not have read that one. Okay, so... Is
00:12:51 --> 00:12:53 that Dark Rendezvous? I don't know the name.
00:12:53 --> 00:12:55 Like, I read these when I was, like, a little
00:12:55 --> 00:12:57 kid, right? I don't remember a lot of them, but
00:12:57 --> 00:13:00 I do remember that one because... And, like,
00:13:00 --> 00:13:01 in Tales of the Jedi now, we have, like, Duke
00:13:01 --> 00:13:04 who kills Yaddle by, like, crushing him. It's
00:13:04 --> 00:13:08 crazy. But in Legends, Yaddle died taking a nuke
00:13:08 --> 00:13:10 that would have killed Anakin and Obi -Wan, and
00:13:10 --> 00:13:13 she took the nuke. to save the chosen one. And
00:13:13 --> 00:13:15 I always thought that, like, that sacrifice was,
00:13:16 --> 00:13:18 like, totally, like, wasted for her, obviously
00:13:18 --> 00:13:20 because he goes to the dark side. So there's,
00:13:20 --> 00:13:23 they're in a city or something. I have, like,
00:13:23 --> 00:13:25 vague details about what happened that I don't
00:13:25 --> 00:13:26 remember. It's okay. But there's a bomb that's
00:13:26 --> 00:13:28 gonna go off, and Yaddle basically... Like a
00:13:28 --> 00:13:30 baradium bomb? Like, a huge -ass bomb, yeah.
00:13:31 --> 00:13:32 Like, gonna level the city, they're all gonna
00:13:32 --> 00:13:34 die, and they can't get out. Like, they don't
00:13:34 --> 00:13:36 have time. And Yaddle takes the bomb and, like,
00:13:36 --> 00:13:39 jumps up high into the air and, like, uses the
00:13:39 --> 00:13:42 force to enclose the explosion around herself
00:13:42 --> 00:13:45 and dies. Like, it explodes, kills her, and her,
00:13:45 --> 00:13:47 like, reasoning, she, like, told Anakin was,
00:13:48 --> 00:13:49 like, or, like, was thinking to herself, like,
00:13:50 --> 00:13:52 I'm going to save the Chosen One by taking this
00:13:52 --> 00:13:54 and sacrificing myself. And then Anakin goes
00:13:54 --> 00:13:56 on later to f***ing destroy the whole Order and
00:13:56 --> 00:13:58 everything, and I was like, damn, Yaddle, you
00:13:58 --> 00:14:03 really... F*** Yaddle, I guess. Jeez. You know
00:14:03 --> 00:14:06 what? I admit, there's a lot of legend content
00:14:06 --> 00:14:09 that I don't know. I do not remember this. It
00:14:09 --> 00:14:12 was one of those smaller books, almost like the
00:14:12 --> 00:14:16 kids' books about... Do you know if it was a
00:14:16 --> 00:14:18 young adult novel or not? It was probably a young
00:14:18 --> 00:14:23 adult one, yeah. Oh, see, that was wild for a
00:14:23 --> 00:14:25 kid to read. I'm going to have to find that.
00:14:25 --> 00:14:27 That sounds awesome. I didn't know that existed.
00:14:28 --> 00:14:32 Yeah, it was insane. And you know what? I actually
00:14:32 --> 00:14:35 can't think of moments in Legends Timeline outside
00:14:35 --> 00:14:38 of that where people are that diehard for Anakin.
00:14:38 --> 00:14:43 She really got on the train and then the train
00:14:43 --> 00:14:46 derailed. you know like yeah now i will say in
00:14:46 --> 00:14:49 legends timeline like and i guess i guess it's
00:14:49 --> 00:14:51 the will of the force because he's forced jesus
00:14:51 --> 00:14:55 but anakin gets deus ex forcing so much like
00:14:55 --> 00:14:58 there are situations where you're just like yeah
00:14:58 --> 00:15:00 he's for sure dead right and you're just like
00:15:00 --> 00:15:04 well no episode three exists so like we know
00:15:04 --> 00:15:07 he doesn't die so we just you know how are you
00:15:07 --> 00:15:09 gonna die how's the you know how's the separatist
00:15:09 --> 00:15:11 leader or whatever gonna get murdered this time
00:15:11 --> 00:15:14 or outplayed or whatever i will say they do a
00:15:14 --> 00:15:18 good job at like plot twists when it comes to
00:15:18 --> 00:15:21 stuff that well i can't say anakin because it's
00:15:21 --> 00:15:24 not anakin doing his vader but there'd be some
00:15:24 --> 00:15:27 plot twists you'd be like so how does he oh he
00:15:27 --> 00:15:31 doesn't but uh you never see that with like anakin
00:15:31 --> 00:15:34 You never see him in such dire straits that he
00:15:34 --> 00:15:37 just, he never gets out. But he's in those situations.
00:15:37 --> 00:15:40 Oh yeah, for sure. Like against Cad Bane, and
00:15:40 --> 00:15:43 like Ahsoka rescues him from, yeah, like, you're
00:15:43 --> 00:15:44 like, he could be dead right here, but we know
00:15:44 --> 00:15:47 he's not, so how's he gonna get saved? Aurra
00:15:47 --> 00:15:50 Sing comes up in Legends a lot, by the way. When
00:15:50 --> 00:15:54 I finally, my first thought, when I first saw
00:15:54 --> 00:15:57 Aurra Sing as like a Clone Wars character, I
00:15:57 --> 00:16:00 said, this is ugly. She was ugly in Legends.
00:16:01 --> 00:16:03 But they... I don't remember a description of
00:16:03 --> 00:16:05 her. Like, I remember they're saying, like, pale
00:16:05 --> 00:16:09 skin and, like... She's in Episode 1. She's in
00:16:09 --> 00:16:11 The Phantom Menace. See, I didn't even know that.
00:16:11 --> 00:16:14 Now... During the pod race, she's up on a cliff
00:16:14 --> 00:16:17 with a rifle. Like, the Tusken Raiders are there,
00:16:17 --> 00:16:18 like, around, and there's just, like, a little
00:16:18 --> 00:16:21 clip, like, very small snippet of her up there
00:16:21 --> 00:16:24 in The Phantom Menace. I never knew that. Well,
00:16:24 --> 00:16:27 I guess when I, maybe, okay, what it was, yeah,
00:16:28 --> 00:16:29 I watched it, I didn't know, and then I read
00:16:29 --> 00:16:31 the books, because when that movie came out,
00:16:31 --> 00:16:34 I was, like, eight. Yeah, I, like, I've gone
00:16:34 --> 00:16:36 back after, like, learning who she is because
00:16:36 --> 00:16:39 of the Boba Fett series. Also, I think the little...
00:16:39 --> 00:16:41 The little novels, the young adult ones. There's
00:16:41 --> 00:16:43 a whole like section of them about Boba Fett
00:16:43 --> 00:16:44 and a bunch of his adventures, kind of like they
00:16:44 --> 00:16:48 do in the Clone Wars cartoon. I see. And Aurra
00:16:48 --> 00:16:50 Sing is in that, like a big part of it because
00:16:50 --> 00:16:53 she's kind of like his mentor -ish. Oh, right.
00:16:53 --> 00:16:57 She's like his guardian almost. And so like when
00:16:57 --> 00:16:58 I went back and saw The Phantom Menace, I was
00:16:58 --> 00:17:01 like, oh. That's her. Oh, I just got some information.
00:17:01 --> 00:17:05 So, according to BrickBPO, Star Wars Jedi Quest
00:17:05 --> 00:17:10 The Shadow Trap Book 6 is the book with Yaddle.
00:17:10 --> 00:17:11 So, I'm going to have to go check that out. I
00:17:11 --> 00:17:13 have one of the Jedi Quest books, but I only
00:17:13 --> 00:17:14 have one. I didn't know there was more than...
00:17:14 --> 00:17:17 Okay. But I don't... The thing is, I don't really
00:17:17 --> 00:17:20 read much of the young adult stuff. I'll do it.
00:17:20 --> 00:17:21 I'll do it. I'll do it. Just go read the summary
00:17:21 --> 00:17:24 on Wikipedia or something. You don't have to
00:17:24 --> 00:17:26 read the whole thing. Just get the gist of the
00:17:26 --> 00:17:28 story. But yeah, Yaddle takes a nuke. That's
00:17:28 --> 00:17:31 pretty cool. I'm trying to think of, because
00:17:31 --> 00:17:33 Obi -Wan has definitely done stuff to, like,
00:17:33 --> 00:17:36 look, Anakin, I'm going to give, like, if this
00:17:36 --> 00:17:38 happens, I'm going to give my life to save you.
00:17:38 --> 00:17:40 Get away. And, of course, Anakin's like, nah.
00:17:41 --> 00:17:43 No, I'm sticking with you. Fights him tooth and
00:17:43 --> 00:17:46 nail every time. And that's one thing that I
00:17:46 --> 00:17:48 really liked about it is because those are the
00:17:48 --> 00:17:52 moments where Obi -Wan goes, Master, I'm so sorry.
00:17:52 --> 00:17:55 I remember us having stuff like this. Like, I'm
00:17:55 --> 00:17:58 so sorry that I ever gave you any kind of stress.
00:17:59 --> 00:18:02 Like, I'm so, like, this is the worst. Come back
00:18:02 --> 00:18:05 to me sevenfold. Please help. And as we know,
00:18:05 --> 00:18:09 Qui -Gon never shows up. He's just sitting there
00:18:09 --> 00:18:11 watching. He's there. He's watching. He's like,
00:18:11 --> 00:18:13 nah, you got this. You're on your own, fool.
00:18:13 --> 00:18:17 This is what you were like. Imagine. He definitely
00:18:17 --> 00:18:21 gets his just desserts. It's refreshing to see
00:18:21 --> 00:18:25 because he knows what's happening and he's like,
00:18:25 --> 00:18:29 god damn it. It's like, what better just desserts
00:18:29 --> 00:18:34 than to have the dying wish of your master come
00:18:34 --> 00:18:36 back to bite you in the ass the same way you
00:18:36 --> 00:18:40 got your master. It's beautiful irony. Yeah.
00:18:40 --> 00:18:42 And I mean, obviously, like, Obi -Wan was probably
00:18:42 --> 00:18:45 questioning Qui -Gon at every turn because Obi
00:18:45 --> 00:18:46 -Wan's like, we gotta follow the rules. And Qui
00:18:46 --> 00:18:51 -Gon's like, it means. What is your favorite
00:18:51 --> 00:18:55 Anakin -Obi -Wan moment from that era? I love
00:18:55 --> 00:19:00 all... Oh, okay. The... The siege, I don't remember
00:19:00 --> 00:19:02 the episodes or whatever, or the planet that
00:19:02 --> 00:19:04 they were on, but Obi -Wan's trapped in the Clone
00:19:04 --> 00:19:06 Wars cartoon. Obi -Wan is trapped on the bridge
00:19:06 --> 00:19:08 with Cody and the rest of them, and they're getting
00:19:08 --> 00:19:12 pushed by the battle droids, and Anakin pulls
00:19:12 --> 00:19:15 up, and he walks out, and he's like, I surrender,
00:19:15 --> 00:19:18 I surrender. Oh, yes, yes. And then Rex and everyone
00:19:18 --> 00:19:21 comes out with jetpacks and everything, and they
00:19:21 --> 00:19:24 wreck shop, and Obi -Wan's just like, Anakin.
00:19:25 --> 00:19:29 You know? Oh man, I'm trying to think of what
00:19:29 --> 00:19:33 my... You know what? In all honesty, my favorite
00:19:33 --> 00:19:37 Obi -Wan and Anakin interaction is the Mustafar
00:19:37 --> 00:19:42 fight. Really? Yes, because knowing all that
00:19:42 --> 00:19:45 I know, knowing how it started, what their adventures
00:19:45 --> 00:19:49 were like, and I see it this way regardless if
00:19:49 --> 00:19:52 we're talking about Legends or Canon. You see
00:19:52 --> 00:19:55 how it starts, know that it's a dying wish of
00:19:55 --> 00:19:58 his master. You see their relationship form.
00:19:58 --> 00:20:01 Yes, it's rocky all the way through, but they
00:20:01 --> 00:20:04 always somehow meet in the middle and continue
00:20:04 --> 00:20:08 forward, growing, becoming like the brother -uncle
00:20:08 --> 00:20:11 -dad combo that they are. I don't know how to
00:20:11 --> 00:20:14 describe it. But getting so close and then seeing
00:20:14 --> 00:20:19 everything go. absolutely wrong everything is
00:20:19 --> 00:20:22 misunderstood everything just kind of devolves
00:20:22 --> 00:20:27 into chaos to where these the the one soul two
00:20:27 --> 00:20:30 bodies thing comes to two souls clashing against
00:20:30 --> 00:20:35 each other it's just And all because of one closeted
00:20:35 --> 00:20:39 gay pedo man. All because of the world's most
00:20:39 --> 00:20:42 evil galaxy -brained homosexual man that we know,
00:20:43 --> 00:20:47 Sheev Palpatine. Yes, exactly. You see the downfall
00:20:47 --> 00:20:50 of the brothers. And I think that's my favorite
00:20:50 --> 00:20:53 interaction between them because it's like, I
00:20:53 --> 00:20:56 don't want to say a period or like a comma. it's
00:20:56 --> 00:21:00 like a semicolon it's like a statement and the
00:21:00 --> 00:21:02 brothers like like think about like the brothers
00:21:02 --> 00:21:06 ended and then there's a semicolon but like student
00:21:06 --> 00:21:08 would kill master like it's like it's like the
00:21:08 --> 00:21:11 semicolon in their relationship because well
00:21:11 --> 00:21:13 we find out that it's not the next time that
00:21:13 --> 00:21:15 they meet but like in the final time that they
00:21:15 --> 00:21:19 meet you know vader kills right right so i i
00:21:19 --> 00:21:23 think that i i love the the symbolism and all
00:21:23 --> 00:21:28 that junk, the poeticism of Star Wars. I like
00:21:28 --> 00:21:30 the Muzaffar fight because at the beginning,
00:21:30 --> 00:21:34 it's Obi -Wan trying to bring Anakin back. At
00:21:34 --> 00:21:36 the beginning of the fight, it's Obi -Wan trying
00:21:36 --> 00:21:40 to get through to Anakin that he's gone too far,
00:21:40 --> 00:21:43 this needs to stop, but still not wanting to
00:21:43 --> 00:21:46 destroy him, as he told Yoda. He's like, I can't
00:21:46 --> 00:21:48 kill him, I can't do it. But then Yoda's like,
00:21:48 --> 00:21:51 yeah, but you're not strong enough to fight Palps,
00:21:51 --> 00:21:54 so... Guess you stuck with this job. That's why
00:21:54 --> 00:21:57 we made you master. But then he goes, he tries
00:21:57 --> 00:21:59 to get through to Anakin. And like throughout
00:21:59 --> 00:22:02 the fight, you can see him wavering. There's
00:22:02 --> 00:22:05 a couple points in the fight where he had the
00:22:05 --> 00:22:07 opportunity to take Anakin out. And he pauses
00:22:07 --> 00:22:10 just a little bit. Or like Anakin is able to
00:22:10 --> 00:22:12 pull his lightsaber back to him just in time
00:22:12 --> 00:22:15 to block an attack or whatever. And it's, you
00:22:15 --> 00:22:17 see Obi -Wan's face like going from like, I'm
00:22:17 --> 00:22:20 trying to get through to you to like, I have
00:22:20 --> 00:22:23 to do this. And then finally at the end, you
00:22:23 --> 00:22:25 know, he sees the opportunity. He knows what
00:22:25 --> 00:22:28 Anakin's going to do because Anakin wants to
00:22:28 --> 00:22:30 prove that he's better than Obi -Wan. He wants
00:22:30 --> 00:22:33 to pull the maul on Obi -Wan, but he can't because
00:22:33 --> 00:22:36 Obi -Wan's built different. And so Obi -Wan is
00:22:36 --> 00:22:39 like, don't do it. I know how this is going to
00:22:39 --> 00:22:41 end. You're going to get wrecked. And what do
00:22:41 --> 00:22:43 you know? He does it. And all of a sudden he's
00:22:43 --> 00:22:49 a pocket. I didn't see that one coming. Your
00:22:49 --> 00:22:55 mom would be so disappointed. oh man you know
00:22:55 --> 00:22:59 what i know it's ahead of timeline wise of this
00:22:59 --> 00:23:03 part two but one thing that i loved about the
00:23:03 --> 00:23:07 kenobi series uh one thing that i love about
00:23:07 --> 00:23:10 the kenobi series is how they go into some of
00:23:10 --> 00:23:13 anakin and obi -wan's training together where
00:23:13 --> 00:23:16 you're seeing him chiding for the lessons that
00:23:17 --> 00:23:20 lead to his like the symbolism between or the
00:23:20 --> 00:23:22 comparison and parallels between that moment
00:23:22 --> 00:23:25 and their final fight and when they meet again
00:23:25 --> 00:23:27 and all that kind of stuff i love their relationship
00:23:27 --> 00:23:31 i think as far as a relationship goes um and
00:23:31 --> 00:23:34 not even just romantic that that obi -wan and
00:23:34 --> 00:23:37 anakin is like the number two relationship of
00:23:37 --> 00:23:40 all time in my opinion, for Star Wars. I think
00:23:40 --> 00:23:43 my number one is always going to be Luke and
00:23:43 --> 00:23:46 Mara. I don't care what anyone says. Okay, that's
00:23:46 --> 00:23:48 fair. Then Obi -Wan and Anakin, and then the
00:23:48 --> 00:23:50 third one is Han and Leia. I think that those
00:23:50 --> 00:23:54 are the power pairings. The first and the third
00:23:54 --> 00:23:57 one happen to be couples, but I think regardless
00:23:57 --> 00:23:59 of if they were together or not, they would still
00:23:59 --> 00:24:02 be that duo. One of my favorite pairs is actually
00:24:02 --> 00:24:05 Ordo and Bethany, but that's for a different...
00:24:06 --> 00:24:09 He will mention Karen Travis's books at every
00:24:09 --> 00:24:11 turn. Karen Travis, if you ever listen to this
00:24:11 --> 00:24:14 podcast, please know that he is your biggest
00:24:14 --> 00:24:16 fan and has learned an entire language because
00:24:16 --> 00:24:21 of you. Say something Mandalorian for the crowd.
00:24:21 --> 00:24:24 Thank you. Can you say something a little bit
00:24:24 --> 00:24:29 longer? I need prep for that. Karen Travis, he
00:24:29 --> 00:24:32 is bad under pressure. I'm sorry. You will be.
00:24:33 --> 00:24:36 But yeah, no, it's just definitely my favorite,
00:24:36 --> 00:24:39 one of my favorite relationships because it goes
00:24:39 --> 00:24:43 full circle, in my opinion, in a way that a lot
00:24:43 --> 00:24:46 of things don't go. Like normally when, at least
00:24:46 --> 00:24:48 the tropes that I've seen, when you're in like
00:24:48 --> 00:24:51 an Anakin, Obi -Wan situation and then Obi -Wan
00:24:51 --> 00:24:53 lets Anakin get away and then the next time they
00:24:53 --> 00:24:57 meet, normally like it's not a span of 20 years.
00:24:58 --> 00:25:01 normally the good guy wins but it's it's funny
00:25:01 --> 00:25:04 to see that like luke knows obi -wan for all
00:25:04 --> 00:25:07 of like a high space hyperspace transit and then
00:25:07 --> 00:25:10 has to watch him like but he doesn't know him
00:25:10 --> 00:25:13 for all he he knows him as obi -wan for all of
00:25:13 --> 00:25:16 a hyperspace transit but he's known ben kenobi
00:25:16 --> 00:25:18 his whole life it's true that's true but i'm
00:25:18 --> 00:25:21 saying like and then he sees him like knowing
00:25:21 --> 00:25:24 all of this and not knowing that that's his daddy
00:25:24 --> 00:25:27 like he has to watch all of that and the it's
00:25:27 --> 00:25:32 just i i loved i loved obi -wan anakin and then
00:25:32 --> 00:25:33 of course we'll talk about next level which is
00:25:33 --> 00:25:35 obi -wan vader because that's the phase that
00:25:35 --> 00:25:40 we're going into is just how deep pisses me off
00:25:40 --> 00:25:43 the way that the way that anakin like just full
00:25:43 --> 00:25:46 on the fear like just takes him It always bothers
00:25:46 --> 00:25:49 me because, like, Obi -Wan's your bro. Like,
00:25:49 --> 00:25:51 this whole, like we were saying, like, Obi -Wan
00:25:51 --> 00:25:53 was lenient. Let him, like, you know, just talk
00:25:53 --> 00:25:55 to your bro a little bit. Like, why are you listening
00:25:55 --> 00:25:58 to this old creepy dude who's, like, in charge
00:25:58 --> 00:26:00 of the whole galaxy? Like, maybe go talk to a
00:26:00 --> 00:26:03 therapist other than frickin' Yoda, who's also
00:26:03 --> 00:26:05 an old creepy dude. That's one of the things
00:26:05 --> 00:26:08 I struggled with, honestly. Especially when I
00:26:08 --> 00:26:13 was younger, watching... Episode two going into
00:26:13 --> 00:26:16 episode three. I did not understand. It did not
00:26:16 --> 00:26:18 make sense to me in my head at all. Like, Anakin,
00:26:18 --> 00:26:20 why are you doing that? This does not make any
00:26:20 --> 00:26:23 sense. Like, I know you're a horny teenager being
00:26:23 --> 00:26:26 tempted by the dark side, but this makes no sense
00:26:26 --> 00:26:28 to me. And I guess that's a testament to two
00:26:28 --> 00:26:31 things. One, the allure of the dark side and
00:26:31 --> 00:26:36 how emotions play into that. And two, how strong
00:26:36 --> 00:26:40 of a person... obi -wan is because we talked
00:26:40 --> 00:26:43 about last episode and as you mentioned you know
00:26:43 --> 00:26:46 he has to go through it a lot and he deals with
00:26:46 --> 00:26:49 it he gets his done but despite all of that despite
00:26:49 --> 00:26:53 it coming to a head in like episode three when
00:26:53 --> 00:26:57 he has to maim his brother you're just like damn
00:26:57 --> 00:26:59 it you never went to the dark side for real he's
00:26:59 --> 00:27:01 like yeah i'm just in the desert chilling Like,
00:27:01 --> 00:27:04 my hippie teacher kind of finally hit me up after
00:27:04 --> 00:27:08 ghosting me. No pun intended. And then was like,
00:27:09 --> 00:27:10 y 'all, let me show you how to vibe in the force.
00:27:11 --> 00:27:14 And so it happened. It just, like, took you long
00:27:14 --> 00:27:18 enough. So the reason, like, I think Obi -Wan
00:27:18 --> 00:27:21 didn't obviously go to the dark side is he was
00:27:21 --> 00:27:26 so focused on following, like, the temple's teachings,
00:27:26 --> 00:27:29 right? I know, like... even even if he was a
00:27:29 --> 00:27:32 little more you know loose in his rule you know
00:27:32 --> 00:27:34 following like Qui -Gon was I don't think he
00:27:34 --> 00:27:36 would have gone to the dark side he does he does
00:27:36 --> 00:27:39 follow the teachings really well really closely
00:27:39 --> 00:27:43 and he like is able to meditate and let go I
00:27:43 --> 00:27:47 think in training Anakin he learns about letting
00:27:47 --> 00:27:49 go because I mean we see the fight versus Maul
00:27:49 --> 00:27:52 when he kills Maul It's out of anger. You can
00:27:52 --> 00:27:55 see like his, it's not like he's being calm and
00:27:55 --> 00:27:57 taking him out. He is, he's pissed that, you
00:27:57 --> 00:28:00 know, his, his master just died and he just lets
00:28:00 --> 00:28:02 in the force a little bit, is able to like pull
00:28:02 --> 00:28:04 his lightsaber to himself and get that jump over
00:28:04 --> 00:28:07 Maul. But he's mad and he totally could have
00:28:07 --> 00:28:11 stayed mad, you know? stay mad he does he lets
00:28:11 --> 00:28:14 go of his emotions his feelings like again like
00:28:14 --> 00:28:17 his feelings for sateen he's able to to get past
00:28:17 --> 00:28:20 those even though like he reminisces on what
00:28:20 --> 00:28:22 could have been he doesn't let it like consume
00:28:22 --> 00:28:24 him he's not like i missed out on the best opportunity
00:28:24 --> 00:28:27 of my life like this is gonna ruin me blah blah
00:28:27 --> 00:28:28 like i should have done this he doesn't let those
00:28:28 --> 00:28:32 like what ifs you know rule him until he maims
00:28:32 --> 00:28:35 anakin and we'll get into that next episode but
00:28:35 --> 00:28:38 he doesn't let those feelings rule him or you
00:28:38 --> 00:28:42 know affect him very much until he is does have
00:28:42 --> 00:28:45 to do something to a family member that is i
00:28:45 --> 00:28:47 mean you know his family it's awful you never
00:28:47 --> 00:28:50 want to do that to someone that you treated like
00:28:50 --> 00:28:52 your brother or sister for so long and then all
00:28:52 --> 00:28:54 of a sudden in a short span of time he just flips
00:28:54 --> 00:28:56 a switch and he's killing kids left and right
00:28:56 --> 00:29:00 i mean that's obviously insane So one thing that
00:29:00 --> 00:29:01 I'm going to mention, I'm going to need a fact
00:29:01 --> 00:29:04 check from you, Brick3PO. Do you know about Obi
00:29:04 --> 00:29:08 -Wan's love interest in Legends and how things...
00:29:08 --> 00:29:10 Okay, so I'm going to need a fact check on the
00:29:10 --> 00:29:13 name, but basically... there was his love interest
00:29:13 --> 00:29:15 that he had. And she was also a Jedi. And yeah,
00:29:15 --> 00:29:17 yeah. And I forget what book I was reading. It's
00:29:17 --> 00:29:19 one of the, it might be one of Travis's books,
00:29:19 --> 00:29:21 but it's definitely during the Clone Wars. And
00:29:21 --> 00:29:25 like, he's in the temple and she's sick. She
00:29:25 --> 00:29:27 has some sickness that is just going to kill
00:29:27 --> 00:29:30 her. And so she's like temple bound. She goes
00:29:30 --> 00:29:32 to see Obi -Wan when he's like in between a mission,
00:29:32 --> 00:29:34 like he just comes back from a mission. and they
00:29:34 --> 00:29:37 sleep together one night when he wakes up she
00:29:37 --> 00:29:40 has passed on in the force she's like body gone
00:29:40 --> 00:29:44 like her only her clothes remain and like that
00:29:44 --> 00:29:47 so i didn't know about satine but she she fades
00:29:47 --> 00:29:50 away into the force and i was like i i remember
00:29:50 --> 00:29:52 reading that story and i was like damn obi -wan
00:29:52 --> 00:29:55 that's crazy but then finding out about satine
00:29:55 --> 00:29:57 satine is i feel like a lot much like worse because
00:29:57 --> 00:30:00 at least he knew like she faded into the force
00:30:00 --> 00:30:03 but with satine he had to watch his like arch
00:30:03 --> 00:30:06 nemesis like stab her with the dark saber like
00:30:06 --> 00:30:09 yep yep the sword of her people at that like
00:30:09 --> 00:30:12 it's a really messed up like what happened to
00:30:12 --> 00:30:14 her like obi -wan's story is really f***ed up
00:30:14 --> 00:30:19 like yeah losing his master losing sateen losing
00:30:19 --> 00:30:22 anakin like watching padme die right in front
00:30:22 --> 00:30:24 of him after giving birth to the chosen one's
00:30:24 --> 00:30:27 children his basically his like niece and nephew
00:30:27 --> 00:30:31 yeah like all this and he had to watch his brother
00:30:31 --> 00:30:35 on the hologram killing the younglings oh man
00:30:35 --> 00:30:38 like that has to hurt as a master too because
00:30:38 --> 00:30:40 like you learn to love those people like right
00:30:40 --> 00:30:43 he only had anakin but still i mean any master
00:30:43 --> 00:30:46 is gonna be you know for instance when um The
00:30:46 --> 00:30:50 guy who saved Grogu. Yes. Okay. I'm sorry. I
00:30:50 --> 00:30:52 could not think of his. So, so when Keller and
00:30:52 --> 00:30:55 saves Grogu and then he gets to the, the, the
00:30:55 --> 00:30:58 boo, the boo, like passenger ship, you know,
00:30:58 --> 00:31:00 the one that they escape on, like, they're like,
00:31:00 --> 00:31:02 what about the others? And you can see like,
00:31:02 --> 00:31:05 just even though he says it like kind of monotonously,
00:31:05 --> 00:31:08 like you can see how much it hurts him, even
00:31:08 --> 00:31:10 though like they're not his Padawans or anything
00:31:10 --> 00:31:12 like that. He's like, there are no others like
00:31:12 --> 00:31:15 that's messed up. And Obi -Wan had to watch.
00:31:15 --> 00:31:17 what happened to them because nobody else was
00:31:17 --> 00:31:19 in that room just the younglings and anakin so
00:31:19 --> 00:31:22 like nobody else saw what really happened to
00:31:22 --> 00:31:24 them they just know they're gone and or the clones
00:31:24 --> 00:31:28 killed them yeah order 66 was a and a half but
00:31:28 --> 00:31:31 hey and i i think that's what makes it like really
00:31:31 --> 00:31:34 tragic in the end is that none of them saw it
00:31:34 --> 00:31:37 except yoda yoda saw it coming right somehow
00:31:37 --> 00:31:40 i i guess that well i know why but like the the
00:31:40 --> 00:31:43 the scene is powerful when you see him cringe
00:31:43 --> 00:31:46 in pain yeah from the loss of like what he saw
00:31:46 --> 00:31:49 yeah he drops his guy mistake no more no more
00:31:49 --> 00:31:52 weed for him he's like oh you know but none none
00:31:52 --> 00:31:54 of them were expecting it i mean like you see
00:31:54 --> 00:31:58 bunch of stories in in the the media now and
00:31:58 --> 00:32:00 in the books of like them being like oh what's
00:32:00 --> 00:32:02 up clones and getting gunned down right right
00:32:02 --> 00:32:05 right they're like you know they go up to them
00:32:05 --> 00:32:06 they're like something's happening something's
00:32:06 --> 00:32:08 wrong and then the clones are like we're we're
00:32:08 --> 00:32:11 happening we're what's wrong yeah I do think,
00:32:11 --> 00:32:13 you know, we were talking about like the very
00:32:13 --> 00:32:15 quick transition, like what, what could make
00:32:15 --> 00:32:18 him other than, you know, perhaps being. creepy
00:32:18 --> 00:32:20 weird old man he was having those nightmares
00:32:20 --> 00:32:23 about padme and we only see the nightmare maybe
00:32:23 --> 00:32:26 like once or twice but he was having those every
00:32:26 --> 00:32:29 single night and like was waking up cold sweats
00:32:29 --> 00:32:32 seeing the same vision over and over again of
00:32:32 --> 00:32:35 padme dying and like nightmares will mess you
00:32:35 --> 00:32:37 up and if you're not getting sleep like you're
00:32:37 --> 00:32:39 losing sleep because of the same nightmare of
00:32:39 --> 00:32:41 the person you love the most in the world or
00:32:41 --> 00:32:44 in the universe like dying it's really gonna
00:32:44 --> 00:32:46 mess with you even like a girlfriend and boyfriend
00:32:46 --> 00:32:48 like she wakes up and she's like i had a dream
00:32:48 --> 00:32:50 about you cheating on me like that's gonna you
00:32:50 --> 00:32:52 know mess her day up like her whole day imagine
00:32:52 --> 00:32:55 every single day you watched the love of your
00:32:55 --> 00:32:59 life die like that's really gotta you know that
00:32:59 --> 00:33:01 definitely pushed him and i think they should
00:33:01 --> 00:33:03 have leaned on that a little bit more like he's
00:33:03 --> 00:33:05 not getting sleep he's waking up every night
00:33:05 --> 00:33:08 in cold sweats like being comforted by padme
00:33:08 --> 00:33:10 but still like processing that dream every day
00:33:10 --> 00:33:13 thinking about it letting it play over and over
00:33:13 --> 00:33:15 in his head and then palps is like i know about
00:33:15 --> 00:33:18 your nightmares i can make them go away and he's
00:33:18 --> 00:33:20 like whatever you have to do like please just
00:33:20 --> 00:33:24 make it stop help me save her and he's like yo
00:33:24 --> 00:33:26 you gotta kill the little kids and anakin's like
00:33:27 --> 00:33:32 Poor kids. Yeah. Like, you know what? And I find
00:33:32 --> 00:33:35 that as a simp, as a self -declared simp myself,
00:33:36 --> 00:33:39 I absolutely understand Anakin. And I don't blame
00:33:39 --> 00:33:42 you. I probably would have done the same thing.
00:33:42 --> 00:33:47 But I think if my Obi -Wan's, like, whatever
00:33:47 --> 00:33:49 my life's Obi -Wan equivalent is would be able
00:33:49 --> 00:33:52 to pull me back. I feel like Anakin, I don't
00:33:52 --> 00:33:53 know, in my head, I've always thought Anakin
00:33:53 --> 00:33:55 should have come back. He should have been like,
00:33:55 --> 00:33:58 Obi -Wan has never pleaded with me like this
00:33:58 --> 00:34:01 and lied just flat out to my face. Like, he was
00:34:01 --> 00:34:03 obviously in distress and concerned about me.
00:34:03 --> 00:34:05 I'm doing something wrong. Like, that's the type
00:34:05 --> 00:34:09 of person I am. But I guess the high from the
00:34:09 --> 00:34:12 sudden, like, oh, look, I'm going to slaughter
00:34:12 --> 00:34:14 some, you know, everyone and just go and ham
00:34:14 --> 00:34:19 and that rush just... yeah it's like when you're
00:34:19 --> 00:34:21 when you're playing like a video game or something
00:34:21 --> 00:34:24 and you go ham and like you get an ace or something
00:34:24 --> 00:34:26 and like you feel like you're on top of the world
00:34:26 --> 00:34:29 right like you're like i'm the best like i'm
00:34:29 --> 00:34:31 the this is awesome he just killed everybody
00:34:31 --> 00:34:33 he's like i just beat every single jedi all the
00:34:33 --> 00:34:36 jedi who wouldn't let me be a master who shunned
00:34:36 --> 00:34:39 me basically for being the chosen one didn't
00:34:39 --> 00:34:41 want you know like everybody had was critical
00:34:41 --> 00:34:47 of him and he's like guess what It's the ultimate
00:34:47 --> 00:34:50 get back, honestly. Imagine living your life,
00:34:51 --> 00:34:53 doing what you think is normal, and putting regular
00:34:53 --> 00:34:56 boundaries on a person, and then turning out
00:34:56 --> 00:34:57 to be forced Jesus and being like, f*** you.
00:34:58 --> 00:35:01 Imagine you f***ed by Jesus. What kind of an
00:35:01 --> 00:35:03 ending is that? I mean, in the end, Jesus got
00:35:03 --> 00:35:05 f***ed by the rules. The rules being everyone.
00:35:06 --> 00:35:08 Well, technically, Vader got f***ed by the rules.
00:35:08 --> 00:35:12 Balance, he had to use a big bad. It was time
00:35:12 --> 00:35:15 for big good to come in, so gotta go. That's
00:35:15 --> 00:35:16 about all I really have from that period. Though
00:35:16 --> 00:35:18 that period has a lot of different adventures.
00:35:18 --> 00:35:22 A lot of the themes remain the same. Basically,
00:35:22 --> 00:35:25 yeah. A lot of it is Obi -Wan and Anakin going
00:35:25 --> 00:35:27 on a mission or whatever. Or Ahsoka and them
00:35:27 --> 00:35:30 or whatever. And then Anakin bends the rules
00:35:30 --> 00:35:33 or does something unconventional. And Obi -Wan
00:35:33 --> 00:35:36 says, Anakin. And then, you know, we move on.
00:35:36 --> 00:35:40 It's the recurring gag, right? And eventually
00:35:40 --> 00:35:45 it comes to, Anakin, you f***ed up. and now I
00:35:45 --> 00:35:47 gotta get rid of you. That's most of what the
00:35:47 --> 00:35:50 Clone Wars is. Like, it's Anakin being unconventional,
00:35:50 --> 00:35:52 Anakin being more powerful, Anakin meeting the
00:35:52 --> 00:35:55 next foe and outsmarting them. It's Anakin always
00:35:55 --> 00:35:58 being better. Better than everyone. Even, like,
00:35:58 --> 00:36:00 when he fights Barriss in the temple. I mean,
00:36:00 --> 00:36:02 that's a very interesting fight when he fights
00:36:02 --> 00:36:05 her in the temple. Yeah. He really beats down
00:36:05 --> 00:36:07 on Barriss. He's mad. You can see it. And everyone
00:36:07 --> 00:36:10 around him can see it, too. When the temple...
00:36:10 --> 00:36:11 What are they called? The temple guards? The
00:36:11 --> 00:36:14 temple, yeah. When they come in, I'm like, are
00:36:14 --> 00:36:15 they going to go for Anakin or Barriss here?
00:36:16 --> 00:36:17 Because they don't know the context. They just
00:36:17 --> 00:36:20 see the red lightsabers. But yeah, the progression
00:36:20 --> 00:36:23 is Anakin bending the rules, bending them more,
00:36:23 --> 00:36:26 bending them more. For instance, the time where
00:36:26 --> 00:36:29 it's like, who will brand themselves as a murderer?
00:36:29 --> 00:36:34 And Anakin's just like... I love that Clone Wars
00:36:34 --> 00:36:36 scene. He's like, I'll do it. It's fine, you
00:36:36 --> 00:36:41 know? And of course, Obi -Wan says, Anakin. Yeah,
00:36:41 --> 00:36:43 that's what happens when you let the one you
00:36:43 --> 00:36:45 love get away with murder. Literally. Literally.
00:36:45 --> 00:36:48 But yeah, I do have one last question before
00:36:48 --> 00:36:51 we close things out. How do you think Obi -Wan
00:36:51 --> 00:36:56 saw Ahsoka, knowing what we know about his relationship
00:36:56 --> 00:36:59 with Anakin? And do you think that Ahsoka and
00:36:59 --> 00:37:01 Obi -Wan ever saw each other after Order 66?
00:37:02 --> 00:37:04 No, I don't think they ever saw each other. Obi
00:37:04 --> 00:37:07 -Wan did not leave Tatooine except for maybe
00:37:07 --> 00:37:09 the one or two times where he went, like, for
00:37:09 --> 00:37:12 instance, in the Obi -Wan Kenobi series, where
00:37:12 --> 00:37:15 he goes to help Leia. But I don't think... At
00:37:15 --> 00:37:19 that point, Obi -Wan is not Master Kenobi anymore.
00:37:19 --> 00:37:23 He's just Ben Kenobi. And Ahsoka was not even
00:37:23 --> 00:37:26 considering herself a Jedi. She's doing her own
00:37:26 --> 00:37:29 thing, staying outside the radar. until like
00:37:29 --> 00:37:31 rebels comes along and she's you know participating
00:37:31 --> 00:37:35 and whatnot but they never met only um what's
00:37:35 --> 00:37:37 his face from the ahsoka the one they're rescuing
00:37:37 --> 00:37:40 what's his face the jedi from rebels oh ezra
00:37:40 --> 00:37:43 ezra yeah only ezra is the one that meets up
00:37:43 --> 00:37:44 with with obi -wan and i don't even think he
00:37:44 --> 00:37:47 mentions that to ahsoka i don't think they saw
00:37:47 --> 00:37:50 each other after that at that point So is there
00:37:50 --> 00:37:52 potential to maybe find out? I mean, this is
00:37:52 --> 00:37:54 more stuff for next episode, but like, do you
00:37:54 --> 00:37:56 think there's potential to find out like if they
00:37:56 --> 00:37:59 do meet after? Cause I mean, technically without
00:37:59 --> 00:38:02 Disney has gone, we don't know. Like legends
00:38:02 --> 00:38:04 for sure. No, but if she meets him at all, it's
00:38:04 --> 00:38:07 going to be his ghost. I think. Ooh. I didn't
00:38:07 --> 00:38:09 think about that. I think, I think it'll be so.
00:38:10 --> 00:38:13 This is for next episode. I have thoughts. But
00:38:13 --> 00:38:16 the question that is relative to this one is
00:38:16 --> 00:38:18 how do you think Obi -Wan felt about Ahsoka?
00:38:18 --> 00:38:21 So I think he sees Ahsoka as the kind of like
00:38:21 --> 00:38:24 I told you so for Anakin. He thinks it's going
00:38:24 --> 00:38:27 to help Anakin become more like him because when
00:38:27 --> 00:38:31 he taught Anakin he became more of a knight.
00:38:31 --> 00:38:33 He became better as a knight. Originally, he
00:38:33 --> 00:38:36 was very critical of Qui -Gon and whatnot, but
00:38:36 --> 00:38:38 becoming a Jedi Knight and becoming a master
00:38:38 --> 00:38:41 to Anakin helped him grow as a Jedi, helped him
00:38:41 --> 00:38:45 be more, not lenient, but like... in tune with
00:38:45 --> 00:38:47 the force and peace and whatnot and I think he
00:38:47 --> 00:38:50 was hoping that Ahsoka would be that for Anakin
00:38:50 --> 00:38:54 but in reality it became one of the catalysts
00:38:54 --> 00:38:57 for why Anakin turned away from the Jedi because
00:38:57 --> 00:39:00 Barriss you know puts the blame on her for the
00:39:00 --> 00:39:03 bombing of the temple and Obi -Wan doesn't as
00:39:03 --> 00:39:04 far as I remember doesn't really defend her right
00:39:04 --> 00:39:08 and so I don't think he sees her as like Anakin
00:39:08 --> 00:39:11 2 .0 I think he sees her as like a lesson for
00:39:11 --> 00:39:16 Anakin and a lesson that He failed at, you know,
00:39:16 --> 00:39:18 I feel like Obi -Wan thinks he kind of failed
00:39:18 --> 00:39:20 on Ahsoka's part a little bit. The interactions
00:39:20 --> 00:39:22 with them... Between them, Ahsoka and Obi -Wan,
00:39:22 --> 00:39:25 after she leaves the temple, are few and far
00:39:25 --> 00:39:27 between. And when they are, it's Ahsoka being
00:39:27 --> 00:39:29 like, why aren't you helping me with the Siege
00:39:29 --> 00:39:32 of Mandalore? Screw you. Oh, you got to go back
00:39:32 --> 00:39:34 and rescue your stupid chancellor. You know,
00:39:34 --> 00:39:36 that kind of thing. And there's very little interaction.
00:39:36 --> 00:39:38 Anakin's the one that talks to her. So I think
00:39:38 --> 00:39:41 he's more distanced himself from that relationship
00:39:41 --> 00:39:44 because I think he thinks it was a failure. Yeah,
00:39:44 --> 00:39:47 it's funny to try to see him give Anakin the
00:39:47 --> 00:39:50 treatment that he got from Anakin that he gave
00:39:50 --> 00:39:54 to Qui -Gon. It's like a little cat. I love that
00:39:54 --> 00:39:58 little Force tree in the Force family. Because
00:39:58 --> 00:40:01 that makes me wonder, do you think Dooku was
00:40:01 --> 00:40:04 like that to Qui -Gon, knowing what we know about
00:40:04 --> 00:40:06 how Dooku was before he saw the folly of the
00:40:06 --> 00:40:08 Jedi? Well, you know, we saw in the Tales of
00:40:08 --> 00:40:10 the Jedi how Dooku was. He was strict, right?
00:40:10 --> 00:40:13 He was strict. And he also went off the rails.
00:40:14 --> 00:40:16 And Qui -Gon pulled him back. They were stopping,
00:40:16 --> 00:40:19 like, a rebellion. And they realized... They
00:40:19 --> 00:40:21 were sent to stop a rebellion. They realized
00:40:21 --> 00:40:25 that the rebels are in the right. And instead...
00:40:25 --> 00:40:27 And, like, the soldiers or whatever... Oh, I
00:40:27 --> 00:40:29 remember now! Okay, okay. I know exactly what
00:40:29 --> 00:40:31 you're talking about. And Dooku flips a switch
00:40:31 --> 00:40:33 and he's like, Y 'all are done. Like, I'm gonna
00:40:33 --> 00:40:35 kill all of you. And Qui -Gon is like, Master,
00:40:35 --> 00:40:37 this isn't the Jedi way. Like, that kind of thing.
00:40:37 --> 00:40:40 I think Qui -Gon was, like, a little more chill.
00:40:40 --> 00:40:42 Or a little more chill after that. Like, after
00:40:42 --> 00:40:45 Dooku left. Because... dooku was very hard that
00:40:45 --> 00:40:47 that's why he would have turned obi -wan to the
00:40:47 --> 00:40:52 dark side if he was oh yeah and he was we found
00:40:52 --> 00:40:53 out he was curious about obi -wan too he wanted
00:40:53 --> 00:40:55 yeah i want to know about him and i mean we see
00:40:55 --> 00:40:58 an attack of the clones he tells obi -wan like
00:40:58 --> 00:41:00 join me you know together we can overthrow the
00:41:00 --> 00:41:03 sith because i mean really in the end dooku just
00:41:03 --> 00:41:05 wants power he doesn't really care how he has
00:41:05 --> 00:41:07 to get it he's just he just wants the power to
00:41:07 --> 00:41:09 be in charge and to make the rules and so he
00:41:09 --> 00:41:12 can you know put all the aliens in concentration
00:41:12 --> 00:41:15 camps Wait, he was a xenophobe too? Oh, yes,
00:41:15 --> 00:41:17 he absolutely was. Okay, no, no, I'm sorry. I
00:41:17 --> 00:41:19 don't even know why I hesitated on that. I remember
00:41:19 --> 00:41:21 immediately. Because one of the things that I
00:41:21 --> 00:41:25 think is absolutely hilarious is when Obi -Wan
00:41:25 --> 00:41:27 and Anakin are on the ship trying to rescue the
00:41:27 --> 00:41:31 Chancellor. Like, when Anakin cuts off his hands.
00:41:31 --> 00:41:33 He's like, I'm a cripple. Yeah, his first thought
00:41:33 --> 00:41:35 is, I'm a cripple. Like, nah, I'm about to die.
00:41:35 --> 00:41:39 Like, it's hilarious. But that has been our...
